Plyometric and jumping training

The jumping training is also known as plyometric training. It’s an exercise that pushes the muscles exert maximum force in short intervals of time, with objective to increase power in the improvement of performance (speed-strength).

Plyometric training can be the difference between being an average athlete or a great athlete. If you don’t implement plyometric exercise into your athlete’s routine, he or she never will become explosive.

That exercise, teaches to move from a muscle extension to a contraction in a rapid or explosive situation. This ability to jump high is a valuable quality in an athlete. The plyometric will work on hips explosiveness and leg drive, plus can tremendously improve flexibility in the hamstring and lower back.

I include the box jumping in all my athlete’s program design, adults, teenagers or even kids to improve their power. I have been having great results with that. However, before you start such training, be certain that you have the right equipment, warm up well, have a good forming it, use training appropriately, and follow a progressive program for conditioning level.
